17.04.2019

Some of main topics that had been discussed during the meeting was circular economy, environmental practices and recycling opportunities.

As a member of the board of directors of the European Association of Bed and Mattress Manufacturers, TED BED participated in the next cycle meeting of the organization in Brussels. TED BED is proud to be part of the non-profit organization that brings together industry leaders in Europe for the last 5 years, promoting all major issues related to the sustainable development of the sector. Key industry members, including suppliers, had joined the meeting. The main topics involved the introduction of circular economy in the Mattress & Furniture industry, as well as a series of Sustainability standards, environment certificates & recycling protocols.

The European Bedding Industries’ Association was founded in January 2000. Its founding members include the national bedding associations of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands, as well as 3 multinational groups, i.e. Oniris, Recticel and Slumberland.

EBIA members, committed without reservation to fair competition, strive to improve their competitive position by technological innovation and design, product quality and top-notch customer service.

As per the latest expert meeting, the European Mattress & Furniture industry is currently facing a variety of economic, regulatory and environmental challenges. The circular economy provides a promising avenue to create more value in the sector by addressing simultaneously resource constraints, consumer value and profitability challenges.

What is more, interest in sustainable mattresses & furniture continues to grow, as eco-friendly technology becomes a mainstay in everyday life. While the environmental impact, and importance, of buying eco-friendly Mattress & Furniture is often overlooked, traditional sofas, beds, and other furnishings are found to be major polluters of the modern house. Green Mattress & Furniture companies are sprouting up in response, producing furniture that is sustainable and eco-friendly, having as target audience the environmentally-conscious consumer.

Along these lines, TED BED, a leading producer of mattresses, beds, sleeping systems and bedroom accessories with 20 years of experience, is committed to supporting the transformation of Mattress & Furniture companies towards a circular economy, adhering to all major Sustainability best practices.
